The City of Ekurhuleni healthcare officials received over 2 500 litres of sanitizer, 2 500 medical grade masks and tongue depressors on Friday, 12 February to boost the fight against covid-19 pandemic. The ceremonies to mark the distribution of the PPE, led by Executive Mayor Mzwandile Masina, were held at Wannenburg Primary Healthcare clinic in Primrose, Thembisa Healthcare Care centre and Daveyton East Clinic.
Receiving the PPE consignment from the Executive Mayor Masina, Head Sister at Wannenburg Primary Healthcare clinic Helen Chukudu thanked the mayor for leading the fight against the pandemic and the donors of the PPE for aiding in the battle against COVID-19.
“These items will have a very positive impact on us as frontline workers. This gesture on its own will motivate myself and colleagues to worker harder knowing that we are not alone in the fight against the pandemic.”
The donation included 5 000 tongue depressors and 12 000 sleeves.
The Executive Mayor Cllr Masina expressed his gratitude to the City’s healthcare workers who continuously serve the residents of Ekurhuleni with pride and dedication.
He further thanked the donors for contributing to the protection of the frontline workers.
