The executive mayor Mzwandile Masina accompanied by the MMC of Health and social development visited two families who lost their loved ones during a bus accident at the Civic Centre in Boksburg, on the 6th of April.
The two ladies lost their lives when they were hit by the bus before it plunged into the Civic Centre Clinic, it turns out that one of the ladies was a security officer, working in the premises and the other woman was a patient who came for consultation at the clinic.
The Families were deep in sorrow when the mayor visited them, the MMC for Health and Social Development (Nomadlozi Nkosi) said, “we received a call around 8:15 in the morning alerting us that there was an accident at one of our clinics which is based in the Boksburg Civic Centre, we managed to rush to the clinic by the time we arrived we discovered that two people had passed on.
Our challenge is that we can’t do anything as there’s ongoing investigations about what caused the horrendous accident. So us as the City of Ekurhuleni we are grieving with the families and that’s why we are here today and it’s painful because one of the ladies was a security officer that is working in the clinic and the other one is a mother of two, who was a patient in the clinic.”
Executive mayor Mzwandile Masina also added by saying “I’m not happy with the behaviour of the community members and other media houses who published the disturbing and sensitive pictures of the two ladies who passed on at the catastrophic scene, it shows that we don’t respect and we don’t care for the bereaved families.
Even us as the leadership we don’t know what exactly happened, we trust and hope the report will help us to have closure and reveal what really happened and what caused the driver to lose control and to a large extend kill two people and damage our property not just the bus even the clinic itself, which was meant to serve the community, so we have established a commission that will investigate the accident like what usually happens and we don’t have a report now, so we are not happy about what the media has done because we saw sensitive pictures being published even before the families identified their loved ones, it is not unacceptable at all , we will really try in our best possible way to speak frankly against what the media has done.” The mayor promised to help the families to bury their loved ones and he also promised to provide them with therapy.
As the team of Ekurhuleni News we are also sending our condolences to the bereaved families!!
