At least 450 kids in schools around Ekurhuleni went home with smiles, thanks to the Gauteng Department of Social Development. They donated school uniforms and dignity packs to deserving learners on Wednesday.
Every year, Gauteng Members of the Executive Council (MECs) visit schools in the province to check on teaching and learning as part of the Back-to-School campaign that marks the beginning of the academic calendar.
Sithelo Mfunte, the Manager in charge of Sustainable Livelihoods and Youth Development at the Ekurhuleni Regional Office, looked back on the progress made by the Gauteng Department of Social Development so far.
