The Gauteng Department of e-Government set the stage for an electrifying showcase of innovation and learning at the recent Youth Tech Expos held on December 14, 2023. Across two vibrant locations – Ramoosa Hall in Mohlakeng, Westrand, and the Watville Community Center in Benoni, Ekurhuleni – the expos became epicenters of knowledge, empowerment, and opportunity for the youth.

Since their inception in 2022, these expos have been pivotal in sculpting opportunities for Gauteng’s youthful population in the ICT domain. Over a hundred young minds have already reaped the benefits, prompting the Department of e-Government’s MEC, Mzi Khumalo, to express his fervor for the expos’ resounding success.
Khumalo lauded the Expo’s triumph, stating, “The Youth Tech Expo reflects our unwavering dedication to nurturing and equipping Gauteng’s youth. These initiatives chart the course for future tech luminaries, ensuring our province remains a bastion of innovation and advancement. Our collaboration with esteemed partners amplifies our collective mission to sculpt a promising future for the youth.”
The expos weren’t solitary endeavors; they united crucial stakeholders, including Siyafunda, Gauteng Department of Treasury, Etwatwa Green team, BAM telecoms, and IEC. Together, they fostered an environment teeming with learning prospects and skill honing for the eager youth.
Thando Nxumalo, an attendee at the Benoni expo, effused enthusiasm for the event. “I’m thrilled to be here, and immense gratitude to the Gauteng Department of e-Government for this invaluable event.
