EMPD cracks down on by-law violations in Bronberg

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct Officers have been busy enforcing the city’s by-laws in various areas, including Crystal Park, Putfontein, and Clovedene, from Wednesday 27 to Saturday 30 September 2023.

The officers responded to a complaint about illegal vagrants who were allegedly using illegal substances and trying to rob people on Putfontein Road in the Chief Luthuli Squatter Camp. The officers found two males in an open field and instructed them to move to a safe place.

The officers also tackled the problem of illegal dumping in an open field at Kerk Street in Putfontein, where they found heaps of rubbish and waste. The officers contacted the City of Ekurhuleni Waste Department to clear the field and to put up signs warning against dumping. The officers plan to legally penalize anyone caught dumping in the future.

In addition, the officers discovered new traders who were operating without permits and with poor hygiene and housekeeping standards. The officers gave verbal warnings to some traders and advised them to apply for permits at designated places. The officers also issued notices to some traders who had ignored previous warnings and continued to operate without the necessary documentation. Some illegal traders were shut down immediately as they were suspected of buying and selling gold without any evidence.
