From Monday, the 5th of November to Sunday, the 12th of November 2023, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct Officers, working with other partners, carried out operations to enforce local laws in the Benoni area.
Because there were reports about dodgy food being sold in Cloverdene, the EMPD Officers went to local supermarkets to make sure they were following the rules and keeping the community safe and healthy. They checked three local shops and found out that they were selling bad food that could harm people. They took away expired food worth R10,000 and got rid of it safely.
Meanwhile, at Birch Road, officers, along with the Community Policing Forum (CPF), kicked out people who were staying in buildings they shouldn’t be in. At the corner of Totius and Springs Road, they tore down structures that were suspected to be used for illegal activities like mining, stealing cables, robberies, drug dealing, and other crimes. The EMPD officers also got rid of signs and posters on traffic lights in the Crystal Park area that were blocking the view of road signs for drivers.
The EMPD is going to keep on making sure that everyone follows the rules, so the people in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) can stay safe from supermarkets that don’t play fair.
