Family lose everything in fire

On the morning of March 8, 2022, in an informal settlement of Thusong Katlehong, a child tried to light a gas stove to boil water for the school. However, the gas exploded leading to their shack burning down.

Community members and firefighters tried to assist but there was nothing left to save as everything burnt down into ashes.

Mr Mbele who is a Fire Fighter said that fire incidents are more experienced during winter and not in summer. He advises the community to avoid leaving gas and appliances unattended.

The father, Mr Mofokeng suffered minor burns on his face, neck, and arms. The rest of the family managed to escape and survive the fire.

Family member, Eunice Thwala explained that this is not the first fire incident the family has experienced. She says they lost their brother last year in a fire accident and that it is a traumatic experience to see their children lose their home due to a fire.

The family pleads for any type of donation, For more information contact Khumbuzile Thwala on 078 036 1844.
