FOUR ARRESTED FOR UNLICENSED FIREARMS, LIVE AMMUNITION AND SUSPECTED STOLEN GOODS

Birchleigh_ On Thursday 25 August 2022 in Birchleigh, Kempton Park, the members of Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Specialised Task Team and Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit received information regarding suspects involved in the armed robbery of a courier company vehicle that occurred in the Birchleigh area.

The information led the members to a residence on Swift Street in Rabie Ridge where a white Toyota Corolla that was used in the commission of the robbery was found inside the yard.

Members of EMPD Specialised Task Team and JMPD K9 Unit, together with the SAPS Johannesburg Flying Squad and Rabie Ridge SAPS. The members swiftly entered the property and recovered a rifle with one magazine, one handgun with six (6) live rounds, a computer keyboard, DSTV decoders and cell phones suspected to be stolen property that was taken from the courier vehicle.

Four (4) suspects who were found in the back rooms of the property were immediately apprehended. The suspects, between the ages of 34 and 40 years old, were arrested and detained at Rabie Ridge police station. Charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, live ammunition and suspected stolen goods were opened against the accused and will appear in court soon.
