On Thursday, 25 January, during the November 2023 Ordinary Council Meeting, the Speaker of Council in the City of Ekurhuleni, Cllr Nthabiseng Tshivhenga, granted the title and status of Aldermanship to four councillors in the City.
This special title is given to councillors in accordance with the City’s Conferment of Civic Honours Policy. It is bestowed upon councillors who, among other criteria, have served on one or more local government bodies within the Republic of South Africa for several years.
The honorary title is awarded once a year when councillors achieve the required milestone, and they will keep the title even after leaving public office.
The following councillors received the Aldermanship:
- Cllr. Sivuyile Ngodwana
- Cllr. Sizakele Masuku
- Cllr. Jane Nhlapo-Koto
- Cllr. Dino Peterson
