On Saturday 25 February 2023 at 23:00, Members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), recovered a hijacked red Ford Ranger Light Delivery Vehicle (LDV), in the Tsakane area.
EMPD officers on patrol, received information about a red Ford Ranger LDV, which was robbed at gunpoint at 21:00. The crime occurred on the N12 freeway and male occupants pretending to be Officers, driving an unmarked VW Golf 7 fitted with blue lights, were spotted by a passer-by, committing the criminal act. While on the lookout around the Tsakane area, Law Enforcers spotted the red bakkie fitting the description given, parked inside the yard on Golinde street, by extension 11. The house owner found on the premises claimed to have no knowledge of how the Light Delivery Vehicle, came to be in his yard.
The vehicle was towed to Van Ryn Deep police yard, for safekeeping. No arrests have been made; however, investigations are ongoing.
The EMPD applauds its members, for the sterling work done and reiterates that motorists, should be more cautious when stopped in dark places.
