Successes in the Ekhuruleni District continue to be achieved through Integrated Vala Umgodi operations.
In a coordinated effort involving SAPS, SANDF, and other agencies, a successful illegal mining operation was executed in Primrose on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Among the 17 suspects apprehended, one individual was charged with illegal mining and being undocumented.
During the operation, a significant cache of equipment was seized, including Cremex blasting cases, 2 super power 90 Explosives, generators, spades, water pumps, gas cylinders, metal balls, hammers, stumping pots, Pendukas, a hack saw, and cutting torches.
Brigadier Lebohang Machakela, Deputy District Commissioner, praised the law enforcement’s efforts and urged them to maintain pressure on illegal miners in the Ekurhuleni District.”
