Jozi Kota Festival gives the vibes

Johannesburg was a buzz this weekend, following a Jozi Kota festival, hosted by two individuals who are fond of KOTA’s; Luvo Limba and Xolani Machele.

The Kota festival took place on Saturday, 05 November 2022, at The Station in Newtown, Johannesburg.

The Kota festival is one of the biggest food festivals which aims to bring different Kota flavours into one place. Hence their slogan “Bringing the kasie vibe to town”.

This festival not only does it bring a variety of Kasi flavours to town but it brings people together, as it accommodates everyone, from young to old.

“The event gives a family setup that accommodates any person of any age, it is child friendly. We have different sections including a kids entertainment area”.

This festival also opens numerous business opportunities for local food businesses, as it had over 30 stalls coming from different parts of the country.

“This Saturday, we had over 30 KOTA stalls, coming from all over over the country, i.e. Cape Town, Pretoria, Tembisa, Soweto, Katlehong, Vosloorus, etc”.

This festival also entertains, bringing different performers, who come up as a surprise at every Kota festival.

“Our performances come up as a surprise because we want people to come purely for the Kota festival and not only for the artists”.

As part of the performers this time, they had Mlindo the vocalist, Aymos, Mduduzi Ncube, Kaylow, Prince Shadow, Xowla, 031, Tjay, and Rascoe Kaos, just to name a few.

The organisers stated that their future plans include hosting this event at least twice a year and to grow from the success they’ve seen in the previous events.

“For the future, we going to have Jozi Kota Festival at least twice a year, of which the next date is already set for 1st of April 2023”.

In conclusion, the organisers thanked every stakeholder and people who made sure that this event was a success.

“Once again we would like to thank all our Vendors, Patrons, Sponsors, and Suppliers, because, without everyone mentioned above, there’s no Jozi Kota Festival”.
