Langaville residents threaten to strike, unless roads are tarred

Tsakane residents and taxi drivers operating in Langaville extension 3 and 6 are threatening to picket if the department of transport fails to build tar roads in their area.

Thabiso Mbeko said that the informal roads are threatening the livelihoods of the community. “Ambulances take forever to arrive because the roads are terrible.” Said Mbeko

Taxi drivers said that they have been pleading with the government to build roads but till to date they have not built them. “We have lost thousands of rands because of these gravel roads and we constantly have to fix our cars and we have installments to pay, we end up losing,” said a community member.

Community members said that they want nothing but tar roads in Langaville. We have been patient for far too long. Should the department fail to meet our demands within the three or six months period, we will engage in an intense strike action.

“We would like the government to do right by its people before this situation gets out of control,” Said Mbazo

They want action from the government or they will go on with the strike.
