On Tuesday (16 March 2021) around 7pm, a community member was shot three times by two unknown armed men in Kwa-Thema (Tornado).
Right after the shooting the victim gathered his strength and ran to one of the close by houses where he was taken to hospital in a community member’s car.
A witness who was traveling with the victim gave Sergeant Nkosi and Captain Morumoloa a statement, saying “I use my car as a Uber taxi, so my friend asked me to accompany him to collect his spare keys since he lost them, by the time he was coming back from his house suddenly two men approached him at the gate and asked him his name, when told them his name (Thabiso) one of the perpetrators pulled out a firearm and started shooting at him, then I saw my friend running while I heard loud gun shots, luckily he managed to run for his life wounded and he entered my neighbour’s house. Then the perpetrators took my car keys and left.”
The community members were socked hearing about the ordeal because they know that the victim is a humble person who doesn’t belong to any criminality gang. Sergeant Nkosi and Captain Morumoloa tried to search for any evidence that was left behind but they didn’t find anything. Sergeant Nkosi told Ekurhuleni News that they received a call alerting them about a shooting, when they arrived on the scene the perpetrators were already gone. “We got a statement from the witness so we are going to investigate and see what we can get, after our investigations here on the scene, we will go to the hospital and see if we can get a chance to speak with the victim because the community members told us that the victim was talking when they rushed him to the hospital, so we plea with the community members to fight with us against such crimes and share any information that might assist the police.”
