Clement Mazibuko is a retired soccer midfielder. He played in the South African domestic league mostly in his soccer career.
Mazibuko believes that soccer chose him, as a young boy his coach realised that he was not just an ordinary child because he demonstrated exceptional skills whenever he played soccer, so his coach encouraged him to take his soccer career seriously.
Nonetheless, back in 2005 he briefly joined the Greek Superleague playing for Ergotelis on loan, but later that year he returned to Mamelodi Sundowns to help them win the South African Premier Division. Even though Mazibuko has retired from soccer he still finds inspiration from players that are currently dominating in the soccer fraternity. “There are quite a few players that inspire me but one that tops the list is Musa Nyatama,” Clement declared.
He has accomplished a lot in his soccer career but defines his best achievement as the one where he was called up to play for Bafana Bafana, as a feeling that can never compare to other successes. Mazibuko has always been a good team player “I was always a team member, I would always make sure everyone was comfortable around me. I also made sure we were all in the same mental state of being winners,” Mazibuko stated.
His fundamental strength is that he respects life and he respects everyone he crosses paths with regardless of their background or race. Mazibuko believes that God gave him the passion and strength to wake up every morning and go to practice. “It was God. He provided me with the talent that I could use, so I had to repay him by making sure that it was looked after and nurtured accordingly,” Clement said. Clement is a great example of the saying “hard work pays off” because he was consistent in the work he managed to win 8 caps in three years.
