Katlehong School rises far above the normal in producing outstanding maths results despite closures caused by the lockdowns.
Sekgutlong Primary School were again recipients of the powerful My Maths Buddy Project where learners from Grade 3 through to Grade 6 took part in workshops and each received a copy of the My Maths Buddy dictionary sponsored by CompAir. The dictionary is an outstanding proven tool that learners use to understand difficult maths terms and concepts.
Mrs Olga Maja the school principal confirmed that the dictionary has been a pivotal component to the rapid improvement of Maths Results in the school. “A number of learners that have used the My Maths Buddy dictionary have gone on to get distinctions in mathematics in Matric,” she stated.
“As I am nearing retirement it gives me great pleasure to be certain that the standards of maths education at Sekgutlong will continue to improve beyond my departure.”
The project has been ongoing for many years and was completed through a working collaboration with CompAir. CompAir attended the workshop to validate the learners and to see each learner who received the My Maths Buddy dictionary.
Mr Tozamile Qobo, HR Leader: Africa at CompAir SA added:
“In line with our Company Values, “We think and act like Owners” – of our business and communities we operate in. Education is fundamental to the development and growth of our country. Over the years CompAir SA has built a relationship with Sekgutlong Primary school since 2014.
