Executive Mayor Cllr Sivuyile Ngodwana together with Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Roads, Stormwater, Transport and Planning Cllr Andile Mngwevu have officially re-opened Nicol Road in Bedfordview, following its closure two months ago due to structural damage.
The reconstruction of the Nicol Road which cost R5 Million will see motorists enjoy the usage of this road with minimal traffic load during peak hours, and pedestrians will have access to a much wider sidewalk.
The scope of work entailed the installation of the dump rock, 19mm stone and installing new stormwater pipes. The work also included the reconstruction of manholes, installation of gabions on the sides and the concrete pilents to support the existing services.
The reconstruction of Nicol Road created eleven job opportunities for the locals.
