In their efforts to clear the communities of illegal firearms and to fight the scourge of drug trade, members of Crime Intelligence and EMPD Tracing Unit had on 10th of November conducted intelligence-driven operations and visited the following areas: Plastic Village in Brakpan, Victoria Avenue in Benoni and Arthur Hobbs Road in Reigerpark.
During those operations, a suspect was arrested in Benoni for possession of drugs which are six crystal meth, mandrax tablets and one rock cocaine to the value of R2500.00.In Reiger Park, a suspect was arrested for possession of the unlicensed firearm and four pieces of ammunition. In the same operations at Voortrekker road, members of the EMPD together with Ekurhuleni flying Squad managed to arrest another suspect for possession of suspected stolen property, illicit cigarettes and for trying to bribe the police officers. Ekurhulenice District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole appreciated the efforts made by members for removing the presence of drugs as well as fighting the proliferation of illegal firearms in the District
