Two young talented comedians, Vincent Mkhatshwa (14) and Akhona Phillips (13) from Germiston (Rondebult) will make you laugh up until tears fall off your face when you meet up with them, they call themselves Fire and Water and they both dream of getting roles on the comedian programmes that are televised.
Fire and Water met each other in a soccer field and their talent was identified by their soccer coach (Brutus) while they were preparing for a soccer game. Their coach explained why he gave them their nicknames Fire and Water: “I was preparing my boys for Supreme United FC when these two talented boys (Fire and Water) were busy making remarkable jokes about who’s going to be in the first lineup, the whole team couldn’t stop laughing, up until I told them to behave, during the match I couldn’t help myself because their jokes were continuously in my mind and I was laughing alone. I approached them after our match and I advised them to do their own comic videos and they also suggested to go to the Malls and taxi ranks to share their jokes so that we can raise funds for our team, since we are looking for sponsorships, as their couch I decided to be their videographer to show them support and that’s how the name Fire and Water came about.”
Couch Brutus Singo believes that every kid has his/her own talent; it’s just that they are not supported or empowered, they only need exposure and I hope one day we will get a chance to watch them on television. You can get their videos on TikTok and YouTube, and their production name is ‘6 Pac’.
