THEMBISA_On Saturday 22 October 2022 at around 10:43 in the morning, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Northern Region Social Crime Prevention Unit was patrolling in Thembisa when they spotted a blue VW hatchback obstructing the road at the corner of Mhlandlela Street and Zikana Street in Ndullweni section, Thembisa.
Allegedly, the suspect saw officers on patrol and attempted to pass a firearm to another male, when they were spotted by the EMPD officials.
The members apprehended one male suspect who was found in a possession of a firearm magazine, while the other suspect ran away on foot with the firearm and the keys to the vehicle. The motor vehicle was taken to the EMPD pound for further investigation.
The suspect, who was detained at Thembisa police station and charged with the possession of an unlicensed part of the firearm, will appear in Thembisa Magistrates Court soon.
