Katlehong SAPS – On Sunday, 24 July 2022, visited sector one in the Mosiliki section to engage with the community on different crimes that are affecting them and try to come up with solutions that will enhance both the Police and the community to fight crime.
Acting Station Commander Colonel Erasmus who is also Head of Vispol policing accompanied by Acting Branch Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sekhu, Sector manager Sgt Senoa, Cimac Sgt Chabalala, Crime Prevention Members, Reservists, and CPF members led by Phindile Ntuli who is the chairperson were among the attendees that form part of the public engagement with the community.
Ward councillor Fana Nkosi was the one leading the community.
Various discussions were tabled which includes mostly drugs in the area, implementation plans also came in whereby the community will help the police in identifying the drug dealers and give them information to the police anonymously on the crime stop line which is 08600 10111 alternatively they can use MySAPS app that can be downloaded to any smartphone.
Community patrollers also need to be added so that they can patrol their communities during the night whereby most of the crime is committed.
During the question and answer (Q&A) session Colonel Erasmus took the opportunity to educate the public about processes that follow after one has been arrested stating that, “everyone has a right to bail and it doesn’t mean after getting bail they are free from their deeds (crime) and there are court proceedings one has to follow till the Magistrate decides on a case, “said Col Erasmus.
