Roads minister sparks matric magic moment

As the new academic year commences, Gauteng MEC for transport and logistics, Kedibone Dlale-Tlabela visited different schools, including Mpilisweni Secondary School in Katlehong on Wednesday, 17 January 2023.

Upon arrival, she was greeted by the school choir. She extended a warm welcome to the Grade 12 learners, acknowledging their significant milestone of reaching matric. Bishop Makamu prayed for the learners. The MEC also came with MMC for Shared and Corporate Affairs, Dr Nkosindiphile Xhakaza, and MP, Phuthas Ntseki.

In her address, she offered words of encouragement to the new matriculants, addressing crucial issues of drug abuse and teenage pregnancy. “It is important to make the right decisions,” she emphasized.

Additionally, she urged the matrics to register to vote, emphasizing the importance of having a voice in the selection of the country’s leaders.

The MEC took a walk around the soon-to-be school of specialization and looked at the environment and facilities. “Looking at the need and the kind of skills we need in our economy, we can do better than that, we can make it bigger,” said the MEC on the thoughts of the computer lab.

She added that more computer labs can be built to accommodate and encourage learners to study maths, science, and technology.

The Principal, Mr Sinqaba says it is an honour to have people of importance visiting the school just to encourage their students.
