RUN YOUR CITY SERIES BIDS FAREWELL TO FNB

2020 will be remembered for many reasons, but for Stillwater Sports, the organisers of the Run Your City Series, it marks the final year with FNB as the valued title sponsor of what has become one of South Africa’s most iconic and innovative road running series. “The Run Your City Series has enjoyed tremendous growth since the inception of the inaugural event, the FNB Cape Town 12K CITYRUN in 2015,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “The Cape Town race was such a resounding success that it quickly expanded into a series, launching in Johannesburg in 2016, Durban in 2017 and Maputo in 2019. This year we went one step further by entering the ‘virtual realm’ with the introduction of the very exciting Run Your City Series Heritage Day Virtual Run. FNB has been with us every step of the way. It has been an absolute pleasure working with such a dedicated team whose input has contributed immensely to the success and growth of this diverse road running series that integrates businesses, families, investment in community, world class achievement and fun for all participants.

FNB has been an excellent title sponsor and we thank them for their contribution.”Bonga Sebesho, Head of FNB Sponsorships, “The Run Your City Series partnership has excelled and grown through the years to become the most coveted and respected event in South Africa. We are proud to have been associated with the series over the past 6 years. It has certainly become a world-class sporting event with a lasting legacy of which we are certainly proud to be part of. As proud sponsors, we wish the team the very best and thank them for their ongoing contribution and support to building sport in South Africa.

”Meyer continued, “We are very excited by what the future holds and look forward to taking the Run Your City Series to the next level. We have a series of innovative changes and event enhancements that will see our current and new sponsors be part of a series of events that is stronger than ever before. I have no doubt that 2021 is going to be a spectacular year for the Run Your City Series. South Africans want to exercise, and they want to socialize, and this series combines the best of both.”In conclusion Meyer added, “We want to thank our sponsors, suppliers and runners who have supported us through this extra-ordinary year, with a view to hosting the greatest Run Your City Series in 2021. We look forward to seeing the entire running community on the start line of the 2021 Run Your City Series!”
