IVORY PARK, EKURHULENI DISTRICT ZONE 1- The Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS has expressed sadness at the brutal murder of a woman and the stabbing of her 13-year-old son, allegedly by her boyfriend.
The incident took place in Clayville’s Extension 71 in the early hours of Sunday. The couple had an argument when the suspect allegedly stabbed the woman and her son multiple times. The woman succumbed to her injuries right at the scene while the traumatized boy was receiving treatment in hospital.
The Station Commander, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has commended his officers for moving from hospital to hospital until they finally located the suspect and brought him to the Ivory Park SAPS where he will be charged with murder.
It is reported that shortly after the incident the suspect was taken to hospital but kept changing hospitals he was supposed to be taken to. After redirecting the ambulance to change direction from going to Tembisa to Charlotte Maxeke, he eventually directed that he be taken to Tambo Memorial Hospital.
Determined police from the Ivory Park SAPS got wind of these movements and went to retrieve him and brought him to the police station to account for his alleged actions.
“Gender-based violence is rife within our policing precinct. Immediately this matter was brought to my attention I made it clear to my officers that they should leave no stone unturned as this man has to account for this horrible incident,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.
The cruelty of it all compels and reminds us that gender-based violence is no longer about the couple but about the community. I appeal to the community to be our ears and eyes on the ground and report even when the other party doesn’t want to involve the police as yet,” added Brigadier Ngcobo
