MULTI-PARTY COALITION GOVERNMENT URGES RESIDENTS NOT TO VANDALISE HOUSES UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The Multi-Party Coalition government urges the public not to vandalise housing projects or steal building material at housing construction sites. Cllr Thamahane made these comments after visiting the Thembisa Extension 27 Mega Housing Project on Friday, 14 January where building material and interior fittings were stolen and some damaged.
“The visit to Thembisa Extension 27 was to inspect the progress of the project which is nearing completion, but it was disappointing to discover that some of the construction materials and interior had been stripped.”The Multi-Party Coalition government urges our residents to refrain from stealing and vandalizing mega housing projects as well as municipal properties,” said Cllr Thamahane.
Theft and vandalism of municipal buildings and infrastructure weigh negatively on municipalities’ budgets, as money has to be diverted towards the replacements.
The Thembisa Extension 27 mega housing project is situated approximately 15km from the Kempton Park City Centre and approximately 1.4km west of the R21 Highway, which links Pretoria and OR Tambo International Airport.
The integrated housing development will create more than 3 500 homes and additionally, it will comprise schools‚ libraries ‚ and interlink to transportation networks. The City recognises the importance of connecting people to their places of work and industries. Therefore, a reliable transport network system is of utmost importance in this project.
