Sibongile Mbaqo, a 38-year-old, Face of Queens with Purpose finalist 2023 stands for beauty, health, and giving back to the community. She is a model coach and mother of two born in Thembisa then later moved to Dikole Ext 2 in Katlehong.
She started her modelling during her primary school days in
Thembalethu Primary School. She then continued to enter community pageants one of them being Miss Siluma Gardens.
Her love for community work and beauty pageants motivated her to volunteer at the Usozo Support Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation. Sbongile said, “Working with the Usozo Foundation gave me exposure and an understanding of community work, I hosted Mr and Miss Katlehong in 2016 and
2017. Seeing the beautiful work I did; I was then approached by people who hosted pageants and pageant coordinators to be part of their judging panel.”
“In 2022 I was part of the Judging panel for Mr and Miss Dawn Park auditions and Miss EastRand teen pageant. My love for modelling encouraged me to help other models and I became a modelling coach, I coached models such as Magauta Khanye who took a 1st runner-up title for Miss Katlehong,” Mbaqo added.
Queens with Purpose is a non-profit organisation that focuses on encouraging community upliftment. This organisation hosts events such as Fun runs and women empowerment pageants in
order to change and support centres that cater to children and persons living with disabilities.
“I entered Face of Queens with Purpose because I love community upliftment and taking care of charities around my area, I have worked with children and the elderly. For me to take the title I have to host events and give back to the community.
“We have already started by donating at Takalani Home in Soweto. I also worked with Hope of Africa foundation on their helping hand gardening project,” she continued.
