On Tuesday 06 December 2022 at approximately 08:00 in the morning, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Tsakane, Bronberg and Springs Precinct officers, in conjunction with the EMPD Ekurhuleni District Operational Task Team, recovered an unlicensed firearm, two (2) hijacked motor vehicles and arrested one (1) suspect.
The officers received information, that two addresses need to be visited in the Tsakane area, as there are allegations that illegal activities are taking place within the premises. The law enforcers engaged the information and arrived at a house on Ndabezitha Street in the Rockville Extension of Tsakane, where the house was surrounded and searched. No suspect was found on the premises, however, a 9mm Star Norinco firearm with a defaced serial number, along with eight (8) live rounds, was found. In the garage of the said house, the law enforcers found a white Nissan Almera, which, when inspected, was reported as hijacked in the Tsakane area.
After that, the second address on Khumalo Street in the Emaswazini Extension of Tsakane was searched. The law enforcers found a 30-year-old male suspect inside the house, and a white Hyundai accent parked outside, which, on inspection, was also reported hijacked in the Tsakane area. Both vehicles were affixed with false registration plates.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Tsakane police station for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and will soon appear at the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court. Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are imminent.
