Two occupants (a driver and passenger) both adult males, died instantly after the vehicle they travelled in crashed behind an articulate truck on the N3 freeway southbound before Helderberg road off ramp in Dinwiddie, Ekurhuleni.
The City’s Rescue team from Wadeville fire station received the call at 16H30 and swiftly responded to the scene. On arrival, two occupants from a single cab bakkie which was on its roof were found trapped with intense head and upper body trauma Injuries. Unfortunately, both were declared dead on the scene by paramedics. Two of the truck crew escaped with no injuries. It is alleged that the truck was stationary off the emergency lane (off the road) and the bakkie driver lost control of his vehicle before crashing behind the truck.
Two lanes of the freeway had to be temporarily closed during the operation for safety reasons.
The scene handed over to law enforcement units for further investigations.
