Police officers of highway patrol arrested two suspects in possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition, for impersonating police officers and committing fraud on the R25 road, on the 27th of May 2021.
It is alleged that the police officers were patrolling on the R25 road when they noticed a white VW polo stationed on the side of the road. When they approached it they noticed three people wearing Gauteng police uniforms .When the police enquired about their duties, one of them ran away and that signified to them that the trio were not lawful police officers, thereafter the patrolling officers searched their vehicle and found a 9mm Norinco pistol with a serial number and seven live ammunition.
The two were arrested and detained at the Kempton Park SAPS.
