The continuing rains have made the disposal sites muddy, slowing down the waste management services’ turnaround time.
Due to the time, it takes to manoeuvre around the waste sites, city vehicles and those of service providers have recently started taking longer to complete their rounds. The already overburdened rubbish removal service in the city has suffered due to this development.
According to spokeswoman Zweli Dlamini, “The Simmer and Jack, and Platkop dump sites are severely damaged.” Even worse, a significant portion of our vehicles uses these facilities.
Thembisa, Edenvale, Kempton Park, Germiston, Alberton, and Boksburg are the areas most severely impacted.
The city will carry on operating as usual.
