The EMPD Tracing Unit members on Thursday (23 August) night recovered two unlicensed firearms and arrested four suspects in Daveyton following a tip of received from a reliable source. One suspect was arrested at Daveyton hostel and the other three were handcuffed at a house on Khanyile Street.

Flats on fire in Edenvale

Swift intervention from firefighters prevented what was to be a disastrous scene in Edenvale Ekurhuleni after a block of flats caught alight last night around 00H57. Edenvale firefighters assisted by Bedfordview, Kempton Park, Primrose, Tembisa and Boksburg firefighting crews, all worked tirelessly to contain and extinguished the well alight three-story building at the corner of Main and Terrace roads.

Reselling of reserved burial sites

The City of Ekurhuleni would like to dispel the misconception that reservation of a grave confers ownership of such a burial site and entitles the burial site applicant to sell that right of use to a third party. Reservation of a grave does not confer any form of ownership over a grave. It only gives a right to bury a loved one in the grave.

Man wanted for hijacking

An unknown number of assailants hijacked a white Toyota Hilux on Monday, 25 June at Cleveland in Johannesburg area. Although the hijacked vehicle was recovered the same day by the SAPS members, the suspects’ information was received and the law enforcers commenced with their search.

Gauteng Traffic Police arrest a speedster

The Gauteng Traffic Police's High Speed Unit arrested a speedster yesterday morning during a special high speed intervention. The 31 year old male was caught speeding in a Mercedes Benz E350 on the R21 near Olifantsfontein. The man who claims to work for Mercedes Benz was driving at 210 km/h rushing to be in time for a wedding.

Metro police officer accused of assaulting a female traffic warden is suspended

The incident, which has gone viral on social media, apparently took place at the Tokoza Metro Police precinct on Saturday. In the clip female officer can be heard pleading for help against the supervisor who is allegedly physically and verbally abusing her. It has been confirmed that she has registered a case of assault with the South African Police Service.

TRUCK CRASH CLAIMS TWO LIVE

Two male occupants were instantly killed, four others critically injured after two trucks were involved in a graphic crash on R550 road near Kliprivier in Ekurhuleni. Boyfriend arrested for murder

Themba Antony Monyakeni (33) from Daveyton allegedly killed his girlfriend Nonhlanhla Rapodile (33) and her daughter Hlelokuhle Rapodile (4) and burnt them beyond recognition at Mayfield in the east of Johannesburg on Friday May 1.The family called the police after they detected blood from the kitchen sink, under the cupboards and on the stove, suspecting Monyakeni to have tempered with the scene.
