To date, more than a hundred people have been assisted by Kasie Outreach in most underprivileged parts of Ekurhuleni. Led by Simphiwe Malunga, a journalist who works in a community newspaper, Kasie Outreach donates clothes to the City of Ekurhuleni’s informal settlements.
Since its inception in 2018, it has continued to make a difference in the lives of others. With the help of donations received from communities, it has donated clothes and nonperishable food products.
Kasie Outreach is a faith-based monthly program facilitated by a youth group which consists of nine members residing in different parts of Ekurhuleni.
They have visited Kathorus’ Loliwe informal settlement, Somalia Park informal settlement, Angelo and Delmore among others. According to Malunga, they aim to change lives by working closely with community leaders in less privileged communities. “Our vision is to continue where Jesus left off, by making a difference with the little that we have. In a month we set a target on where to go to, then liaise with a leader of that particular area to organise a certain number of people. We have successfully managed to impact lives,” he said.
Malunga said they solely rely on the help of community members for their programmes to be a success.
“We simply exist because of concerned community members residing within the City, who go an extra mile in donating selflessly. They reach out and I then visit them for collections, everything is done on plain sight for transparency. We would really appreciate any form of donations,” he added.
