It is alleged that, on Friday, 1 November 2024, at about 05:00 am, an African male employed by Albany Bakery at Germiston was driving his Toyota Hilux single cab bakkie between the Mavimbela and Ncala section going to work, when he was fatally shot at by an unknown gunmen.
During the shooting, the deceased person lost control of his vehicle and collided with the palisade of one of the houses at Mavimbela Section Katlehong. The deceased sustained multiple gunshot wounds all over his body. A total number of 55 empty cartridges were found at the scene, of which 44 of those are for AK-47 rifles and 11 were for a 9mm pistol.
All role players were summoned to the scene, including paramedics who declared him dead at the scene, and he was transported by pathologist to a government mortuary at Germiston.
The motive for the killing is not yet established by the police at this stage, and the suspects are unknown and are still on the run.
