Katlehong’s businessman is all about giving

“Giving back to the community is something from the heart and mainly to help those who are in need”- these are the words of the enthusiastic entrepreneur, business advisor and the benefactor to the community of Katlehong, Xolani Masondo.

The founder of the Best Selling Glass (BSG), Masondo has recently donated school uniforms to the community of Katlehong, which came after his show on EK FM. The rollout of the school uniform started on Friday, 14 January 2021.“I realised that I have done everything, giving back to the community, supporting the GBV campaigns, and also giving to the elders. I thought why not help school children since it is the back to school season and there are homes where parents are going to be frustrated by how they are going to make ends meet for their children and I know the pain since I am also a parent,”

“I then decided that since I have my shows as a business advisor on Ekasi FM on Thursdays let me not talk about business rather touch on the back to school programme where parents will share their stories with us,” said Masondo.

He continued to say they then took some of the stories shared during the show and contacted the families to find out what they needed so that they can deliver.

Speaking to Ekurhuleni News, Masondo said for him to see himself giving to the community that he lives and work in, it is not that he wants to benefit something from it, however, it is encouraged by how he grew up. “There are many things that I wish I had during my childhood but I couldn’t have because of the circumstances that I grew up living under. During weekends I had to sell fruits and that enabled me to buy myself school trousers since I was raised by a single parent,”‘Being in school and seeing other children in their full school uniforms because their parents can afford, that thing causes damage to other school children who their parents cannot afford. They feel as if they are not enough and not worth the education,”

“It is with this reason that we try so much with the little that we have to close that gap because every child deserves to feel equal to others and to be happy,” added Masondo.

The business advisor ended by saying, for him to be able to employ the youth of the community he lives in and be able to help where he can, it will be always something that he is proud of. He hopes one of the good days he will be able to establish a foundation where his hand will be able to reach the masses.
