At Little Explorers Pre-school, learning is always an adventure. Recently, our learners embarked on a fun-filled journey to explore the theme of summer. The Shorts and Shades event, held at the pre-school, was the culmination of a week-long lesson plan that delved into the characteristic clothes, food, and weather associated with the season.
According to Principal Marlene Molefe, the event was designed to bring the learning experience to life. “We wanted to create a hands-on and interactive experience that would allow our learners to apply what they had learned in a fun and engaging way,” she explained.
The event was a resounding success, with learners confidently and proudly wearing their shades and showcasing their newfound knowledge and understanding of the summer theme. The pre-school’s parents were also enthusiastic participants, providing support and encouragement throughout the event.
At Little Explorers, art and music play a vital role in the curriculum. The learners participate in various activities, such as dancing and special days like Heritage Day, where they wear traditional attires that reflects their cultural heritage.
Principal Molefe emphasized the importance of play-based learning in the pre-school’s approach. “We believe that children learn best through hands-on, experiential, and self-directed play. Our motto, ‘Exploring education through fun and play,’ reflects our commitment to creating a learning environment that is engaging, interactive, and enjoyable for our learners.”
Early childhood development is a critical aspect of the pre-school’s program. The first five years of life are crucial for brain development, and Little Explorers Pre-school’s ECD programs are designed to stimulate brain development through play. The programs also help children develop essential social-emotional skills, language and literacy skills, and prepare them for future academic success.
