Duduza’s very own DJ and producer, Mfundo Nkosi known to many as Mfundo Da DJ said his love for music started at home around the year 2001 when his parents used to host stokvels.
Nkosi said he owned the playlist during those gatherings, Mandoza and Brickz were always at the top of the list.
“I used to select songs that should be played during those gatherings. I have always been a passionate individual who had faith that I would be famous. I had the will to succeed,” he said.
Nkosi said he initially learned how to DJ when he was taught by Ntokozo Nkomonde also known as Mashandela.
“Nkomonde is a selfless individual. He taught me everything I know about DJing.
“He motivated and encouraged me to always strive for big things and that is exactly what I am doing,” Nkosi said.
Nkosi worked for Sandile Msimango popularly known as Young Stunna as his personal DJ.
He said working closely with Young Stunna allowed him to learn a lot while gathering experience in the industry.
“I worked for Young Stunna for a year, he gave me the recognition I deserved and further featured him and Amapiano King, Kabza De Small on a song titled uNonkosi,” said Nkosi.
He said the song reached Platinum Plague which is a badge of achievement to his name.
Apart from being a DJ, Nkosi also hosts events such as Mfundo Da DJ and Friends. He best describes this event as an event for his community in Duduza.
“I do not get booked much in my area so my event aims to bring all the experience I get from my travel in other countries to Ekasi,” He added.
Nkosi has travelled to over 40 countries to play his music. He has performed at Afronation which is one of the well-known international events held in Portugal and Miami in the USA.
“I performed for close to 100 thousand people, I could see different flags from all over the world.
“It was an amazing thing to experience, I could feel my heart beat faster because of the excitement I had.
“Travelling on the job is always exciting and very educational, I always appreciate it.”
“I deem it as an achievement, an achievement that has helped me grow as an artist and individual.
“I have learned basics, professionalism, and the dos and don’ts of the industry,” added Nkosi.
Nkosi further mentioned that he is working on a surprise release that will keep his fans on repeat.
“More greatness is yet to come,” he said.
