CF Astana youth development team RSA is a football club located in Daveyton, it offers young people practice and exposure to the world of soccer. Although the football club started in a sad way it has grown to put smiles on the faces who are part of it because it is the young people close to their dream.
“The inspiration that has kept our football club going is that it produces players that progress to developed teams,” said Siphamandla Hlatshwayo.
The football club has achieved a lot of things and has won some local tournaments with their senior’s team and development teams, they are second-time champions of the Vincent Nyembe tournaments. They are currently also current defending champions of the Vincent Nyembe under 15 and reigning champions of the Sakhithemba Youth tournament under 17.
With the football club’s plan of expansion, by adding a female division of it and progressing to other level tournaments, it is sadly inevitable to say that they will need the necessary equipment to proceed. This equipment would consist of soccer kits, boots, balls, travelling tracksuits, and food and travel arrangements when going to league games.
Having the above-mentioned necessities would help the football club win the Benoni North Local Football Association (BNLFA) league which they are currently participating in, and to progress all the way to secure an SAB league status.
“The future goal is for the football club to play in one of the biggest league DSTV premiership, Motsepe Foundation Championship, or the ABC Motsepe league,” expressed Hlatshwayo.
The football club has a good impact on the community because it has shifted the kids’ attention from streets and drugs and has helped mould the young people’s dreams of being future soccer stars. Siphamandla pleads with the community to be more hands-on with the football club by contributing to the club’s progress.
