MMC for Water and Sanitation Cllr Thembi Msane today (Friday) joined a team of city technicians in addressing water leaks in Ingqayizivele Secondary School in Thembisa.
This programme was not only to address leaking taps and pipes, but also to ensure that the school’s plumbing installations are up to date before the 2025 academic year kicks off. The work that was done at Ingqayizivele Secondary School also included the replacement of toilet cisterns.
“The whole idea is to ensure that when schools open next week, the children are not derailed by issues that can be addressed easily. We care about the education and future of our children hence our determination to play a meaningful part in ensuring that the culture of teaching and learning runs smoothly in the region,” said MMC Msane during her visit to the school.
Cllr Msane will continue to visit other schools across the city to help them address water issues like leaks and water pressure, while encouraging the community to continue to use water sparingly and protecting this scarce resource by reporting and fixing water leaks upon sight.
“The government will do its best to provide the infrastructure to better service delivery to our people, but we need to work together with communities to realise this vision,” MMC Msane emphasizes.
