On the 20th of February in the afternoon, a motorbike rider lost his life on the N12 highway, just before Edenvale, he died instantly on the scene while traveling to Primrose with few of his motorbike crew members.
The bikers’ crew members who witnessed the accident were still traumatized when Ekurhuleni News arrived on the scene, however the scene was overshadowed with trauma and confusion because even the lady who belonged to the motorbike crew couldn’t obey the instructions which were issued by the traffic officers who were at the scene, she was calling out to his late friend in agony, hoping that he was still alive, but the man who was declared dead, laid motionless with no response. According to the witness of the accident, the motorbike member lost his control when a VW Polo owner jarred the back part of his bike.
One of the crew members revealed to Ekurhuleni News that, “We were on our way to Primrose, I was in front riding my bike on a 130km/h speed, all our club members always ensured that we don’t go over the 150km/h speed limit , I was watching my friend on my mirror during our journey, then i suddenly saw pieces of the bike flying all over and there was a loud sound coming from the back, after that i saw the bike rolling over without the owner. This man was the best rider ever, this guy knows his bike and he was involved in a plenty of accidents, but this one was an unbelievable accident, I don’t know if the Indian Polo driver was switching lanes or what, I will never forget this day”.
The motorbike was laying a metre away from the deceased and there were pieces of the bike all over the road, the VW Polo driver couldn’t comment since he was not in his right state of mind. We do lose our family and friends every day because of accidents, we don’t plan it and we don’t wish for it but it happens anyway. The passion or love for riding can be seen through the love and care any motorcycling enthusiast or biker shows to his/her machine. These individuals may seem all hard and tough on the exterior but can sometimes express themselves in thoughtful words too. Ekurhuleni News will like to pass condolences to bereaved family members and friends who lose their loved ones to these tragic accidents.
