Nsizwa Mahlangu, born and bred in Daveyton took the chairmanship of the South African Handball Federation’s elective conference at Olympic House on May 21.
The new leadership position means grace and prosperity for the Daveyton resident.
Mahlangu along with Thabo Tutu, and Clifford Morake will be under the leadership of Nompimelelo Ntsangase serving as her deputies.
“I am so grateful to have received this position and I strongly believe that I will play a good role in leading and making sure that I revamp the sport’s governance with my past experiences within the sports industry,” said Mahlangu.
Mahlangu has been in the industry for more than 20 years and gaining a new role for him means perseverance and doing what you love with passion.
“Facing disappointment in 2019 during the elective conference where I contested for the deputy president and not getting the title was heartbreaking as I wanted the role so badly. That was supposed to crush me but instead, it made me see the bigger picture.”
The Gauteng Handball Association chairperson mentioned that they aim to bring change in the association and introduce initiatives that will enhance the federation.
“We want to create partnerships with local outlets such as media, schools, and different sports federations. In that way, the sport will get exposure,”
“We definitely want to conquer and do our best, however, it will take a lot of work to achieve that. We must try to make the game appealing so that sponsors can be attracted to the work,” ended Mahlangu.
