NOTICE TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL FOR CHRIS HANI CROSSING CLEANING CONTRACT

• 5 x Night Shift Cleaners
• 1 x Night Shift Supervisor
• Contract to include all equipment, equipment maintenance and repairs, uniforms, consumables, PPE
• Contract period: 12-month contract, upon performance review contract can be renewed.
Scope of Work
The service provider will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the entire premises, excluding the internal areas of tenant’s premises. These areas are specifically defined as the “common areas”, including but not limited to: gardens, parking areas, service passages, ablutions, management offices, taxi rank, paved walkways, communal seating areas in the food court, stair cases, escalators, refuse and yard areas etc.
All staff will be required to attend to the mall during trading hours. Ablution attendants will be required to permanently attend the toilets during trading hours.
The service provider will not be expected to include hygiene and pest control services within this contract. Should your company offer these services you may submit a proposal separately.
High level and specialized cleaning services to be quoted for on an annual basis separately.
Hours of Work
The working conditions must comply with the Basic Conditions of Employment. Contracts are to be priced as per the latest Government Gazette for minimum payments to the Cleaning Sector.
Chris Hani Crossing will operate in accordance with the needs and requirements of the tenants. Therefore, the mall will be required to operate 7 days a week, with minimum trading hours 8:00am to 8:00pm – Monday to Saturday and 8:00am to 2pm – Sunday and Public Holidays. The service provider is required to develop the shift roster system in such a way that accommodates these operating times and ensure that the mall is sufficiently staffed at all times.
Employees are not required to work overtime and the maximum of 45 hours per week per employee should be adhered to. Employees may only work overtime by prior arrangement and approval. Weekend and public holiday shifts must therefore be compensated as per the Government Gazette for minimum payments to the Cleaning Sector and within the provisions of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
Quality
The service provider is expected to maintain the highest standard of cleaning as can be expected in a retail shopping centre environment. Industry codes of good practice, SABS and SANS codes for the cleaning sector must be adhered to where applicable.
Equipment
All equipment required to fulfill the cleaning obligations must be supplied by the service provider, maintained and in operation at all times during the contract. Should equipment become faulty, fall into disrepair and/or require replacement the service provider must arrange for temporary equipment to be placed on the site until a replacement is sourced. Equipment relates to ride on scrubbers, non-mechanical sweeping devices, mop trolleys, cleaning stations, wet and dry vacuum cleaners etc.
Consumables
All consumables must be supplied by the service provider. The service provider will be required to purchase on an ongoing basis all consumables including but not limited to: toilet paper, brooms, mops, overalls, gum boots, detergents, deodorizers, hand soaps, gloves etc. The service provider must include in his contract price an amount for the aforementioned consumables.
Note: There are no tender documents for completion, all that is required is a company profile, references and a detailed proposal which must include the following:
Labour Cost (In terms of the Basic Conditions of Employment and the Sectoral Determination for the contract cleaning industry and must be registered with the NCCA)
Ops Costs (Maintenance provisions for equipment and equipment replacement)
Consumables
Overheads and markup
Vat (if applicable)
Commencement Date: Successful company should have all requirements in place to commence with the contract 01 June 2025.
