On Saturday 01 October 2022 in the Daveyton area, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Tracing Unit arrested a 40-year-old African male for possible murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition, in the early hours of the morning.
Acting on a tip-off from a reliable source, the law enforcers moved into the location of a suspect wanted for a possible murder case that occurred last month, at Ogies area. The officers tactically approached the Daveyton hostel situated at the corner Alliance and Maroleng Street.
The suspect was apprehended and was found to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm the make of which is a Star .22, with intact serial numbers along with five (5) live rounds.
The suspect was immediately arrested for possible murder as per Ogies case.
A charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunitions was registered against the suspect and was detained at the Daveyton police station.
The suspect is expected to appear in the relevant magistrate’s courts soon.
