“PARTNERSHIP RESULTS IN ARREST OF THREE SUSPECTS FOR CABLE THEFT”

A new Infrastructure Task Team operating in the Northern Region and within the City of Ekurhuleni has been assigned to curb the synergy in dealing with the impact of cable theft. The new task team consists of Ekurhuleni Metro Police (EMPD), South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA).

Tembisa – On 17/05/2022 at about 10h00, EMPD in conjunction with other stakeholders apprehended three suspects at Emoyeni, section, by the Tembisa substation.

The three suspects were found skinning and melting 13, 3 kg of aluminium cable, they were arrested and detained at Tembisa police station.

The three suspects will be charged with possession of stolen cable and damage to infrastructure.

The EMPD spokesperson Kelebohile Thepa, commended the collaborative work between law enforcement agencies for their successes in fight against cable theft and damage to infrastructure
