PK releases a depression relieving single

The streets of the Eastrand have been blessed with an upcoming artist from KwaThema, Pakiso Maserumula. He is well known as PK and he’s doing great things in the music industry.

He was born and raised in Kwa-Thema and he calls himself “an artist at heart”. PK started his music journey in 2011 and he has won various competitions thus far. He was even featured on a TV show called Shiz Niz(Shiz Live). PK has shared the stage with the likes of Reason and K.O so far. His best highlight was when he shared the stage with an international Hip Hop crew, famously known as Mobb Deep.

PK devoted his life at church from a young age and he has been a churchgoer ever since, so he met his rapper friend at church and that’s where they began sharing music, that inspired him to embark on his music career. PK shared with Ekurhuleni News saying: “The artists that we used to listen to back then inspired me to write my own material and a friend of mine helped me through the process of mastering the art.” PK further explained that he took part in other activities, but he discovered that he could express himself way better to individuals as well as the community through his music.

“My latest project is a single from my upcoming EP titled ‘God Sent’ (GS), when I wrote the song I was actually going through depression, a lot was happening in my life and it felt like everything was on my shoulders, so I decided to write the song and express my thoughts and feelings through it. It’s a totally different sound compared to my previous songs. On the EP that I’m currently working on, I’m basically coming up with a different sound, it’s a whole different me. I’m fusing different sounds to form one unique body of work, I was told, “You will never know how many people you might have saved with your music….” and that statement alone meant a lot to me hence I dubbed my EP ‘God Sent’ it is even more interesting because there’s a touch of Christian rap, but that’s up to the fans to find out what I will be offering this time,” PK expressed.

He aims to have his own record label in the next five years. “The Music industry is not for the fainthearted, it demands a lot of patience, hard work, determination, passion and most of all, understanding the HIP HOP culture as a whole. I’d like to thank everyone who’s behind me, my support structure, my team, family, Bongani Nkosi (business partners) and most importantly my fans. There are more hits coming, so stay tuned!” PK concluded.
