On the 29th of October, Menzi primary school welcomed over 300 guests to their cluster awards ceremony, where primary and secondary learners of 2021 were given certificates and trophies and prizes for their achievements and hard work.
Learners were also awarded additional prizes for performing exceptionally well in various subjects and the day was made more fun for the learners especially the ones in the primary school phase. The guest speaker for the day was a motivational speaker Nhlanhla Lukhele. She gave an inspirational and moving address recounting her incredible experiences as a motivator. She used visuals to portray her message to the audience.
“Learners must have pride, be resilient and mostly determined and try to remain cheerful in the face of adversity,” said Nhlanhla.
“First we were kept entertained by the (MC) master of the ceremony Ntsiki Nogwam and the Deejay who was available during and after the ceremony.
“The day has a special meaning for the students and us as teachers. An aroma of pleasure runs everywhere in the school premises today and that makes us as teachers to see our learners striking and working hard to better themselves and others,” said one of the teachers.
“I work hard every day to be where I want to be in the near future and I am so happy that my efforts are showing and that I’m also making my parents happy and proud,” said Mdluli Olwethu.
Mr Phala gave votes of thanks and an excellent overview of the event by thanking all staff members and volunteers for helping so many students in collecting their trophies and prizes.
The proceedings were expectedly overseen. All guests were invited to join staff members for refreshments after the formalities and photographs were taken.
