In celebration of McDonald’s 30th birthday on the 11th of November, the quick-service restaurant sold its Big Mac regular meal (burger, fries and a drink) for a fee of R30. The residents of Tsakane flooded Tsakane Mall for the special.
The special started at exactly 11:11AM, and already the queue was filled with people eager to buy the tasty burgers. Speaking to Nontle Tshabalala, a 20-year-old residing in Tsakane, attested that the stream of line began before the actual time of the meals were sold. “My friends and I got here at 9:30AM. There was no way we were going to miss an opportunity like this. We love McDonald’s and since we saved a bit of our pocket money because we’re not writing exams today, we decided, why not get our favourite?,” excitedly expressed Tshabalala.
Timothy Maseko, a resident from Duduza expressed his delight regarding the special. “I came from Duduza with my 57-year-old mom and 78-year-old grandmother just so they can be happy. It’s my grandmother’s birthday today, so I’m happy that I get to see her smile. This initiative came at the right time because as an unemployed man, I get to see two woman who raised me happy, on a friendly budget. They both love McDonald’s, and it’s always the little things that make old people happy. I thank McDonald’s for such,” graciously added Maseko.
The special was limited to one meal per customer for a restricted period of time.
