“Rugby is my first love” – Amahle Ngobese

Dawn Park resident, Amahle Ngobese who is passionate about rugby is asking for the assistance of R41 990, for his trip to Ireland.

The 14-year-old started living his dream of playing rugby in Grade Two at the age of eight at Van Dyk Primary School after seeing his schoolmates training and he never turned back.

He was recruited by Valke Rugby Club after their rugby trials, thereafter in 2021 he saw the rugby scholarship to Hoerskool Alberton.

Ngobese has been invited by Travel and Sport-School Tour specialists to join other players in a rugby tour to Ireland, however, he is facing difficulties with funds.

“We would like to plead with anyone who can assist us with the funds needed so that our boy can live his dream. I have tried everything in my power to seek funds, I even went as far as going to the banks to ask for a loan but I didn’t win,” said Lindiwe Ngobese, mother of Amahle.

She further said that Amahle made her fall in love with rugby and it amazes her to see how his son has become so good at it.

“I didn’t think that he will get this far with rugby, so it saddens my heart now that I can’t help him to do what he loves and I feel as if I have failed him.”

When speaking to Amahle, the boy was filled with joy and excitement.

“I want to go on this trip because it will offer me a better opportunity to improve my rugby skills and show South Africa my talent.”

The rugby player draws inspiration from Damian Willemse.

Anyone who wants to help Amahle can contact Lindiwe Ngobese on 073 450 2741.
