The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) is set to host its 6th Annual Local Government Talent Management Seminar (ALGTMS) from 16 – 17 September 2024. This year’s event, themed “RECALIBRATING TALENT AGILITY TO DEEPEN INSTITUTIONAL RESILIENCE” will equip local government officials with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate the complexities of the modern workplace and build resilient, high-performing organisations.

Dr Thobile Mhlongo: Municipal Capabilities & Governance Cluster Acting Chief Officer said: “The 6th Annual Local Government Talent Management Seminar is a crucial platform for municipalities to invest in their most valuable asset: their people. By fostering a culture of resilience, agility, and continuous development, we can equip our local government officials with the skills and knowledge they need to navigate the complexities of the modern workplace and deliver exceptional services to our communities. We hope that this seminar will inspire innovation, collaboration, and a renewed commitment to excellence in talent management within the South African local government sector.”

In today’s rapidly changing world, municipalities face unprecedented challenges. SALGA recognizes the critical importance of investing in human capital to ensure the success and sustainability of local government. The ALGTMS will provide a platform for municipal practitioners to explore cutting-edge talent management strategies, learn from industry experts, and connect with peers.

A lineup of renowned experts in human resource management, talent development, and organisational resilience will take centre stage at the seminar. These experts will delve into the critical role of talent management in building resilient organisations, exploring strategies to foster resilience within the modern workforce, and recalibrating talent agility to meet the ever-evolving demands of the workplace.

The seminar will cover a wide range of topics, including embracing digital transformation for data-driven talent management, leveraging AI to empower the workforce, fostering diversity and inclusion, building high-performing teams, prioritising employee experience and wellbeing, adopting hybrid work models, and driving leadership, skills, and continuous development.
