Sky City Mall and Pick n Pay Women’s Day Activation Maintains Value Anchored Shopping Experience

Pick n Pay and Sky City Mall on the 14th August, at the entrance of Pick n Pay supermarket, in step with the mall’s shopping culture which places community and convenience first, showed love and appreciation to its women consumers in a “women’s month” in-store activation, which expressed adoration to female consumers with a touch of freshness and sweetness through the sharing of roses, cupcakes and coffee mugs to them as they completed their shopping at the supermarket, which marks its milestone months in the mall.

Sky City Mall a favourite and preferred shopping destination in the Sky City precinct which hosts consumers from the burgeoning surrounds and areas such as Alberton, Midvaal, Palm Ridge, Katlehong, and Vosloorus – always places its consumers first – a strategy that has worked phenomenally well in ensuring happy and satisfied shoppers – kept in step with its vision to keep growth sustainable in its chain of up to 60 stores, joining its values with one South Africa’s foremost legacy Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and Supermarket Pick n Pay.

Sky City Mall Centre manager, Archie Ntuli, taking pride in the growth of Sky City Mall and expanding retailers who are taking up their share of space within its 26 000 square metre property which includes phase two, mentioned that following the opening of the Pick n Pay in November 2024 it still remained important for the supermarket have its presence notably marked – as it was one of two supermarket players in the centre. He said it is important “to familiarise our shoppers with the Pick n Pay and its specials because most shoppers are used to just one supermarket in the centre.”

Pick n Pay supermarket through sharing of its enduring values which include fostering a culture of supporting and participating in the community, offering quality and value, offered its female customers freshness, flavour with an assortment of cupcakes freshly baked by its staff, while Sky City Mall anchored the activation with memorability through its signature Sky City Mall coffee mugs.

“Women make the world go round, and it’s important that we take care of women, because they take care of society ” Emma Malunga, Pick n Pay Customer Service Manager said, mentioning how glad the supermarket was to host this activation.

“Remember we raise presidents, we give birth to presidents and to the future architects. It’s only fair and graceful for us to mark this day and month to appreciate the women in our lives and women in general.”

“As Pick n Pay Sky City we thought, we should give to the community and present this event to women,and the women around us so as to give them hope and motivate them going forth.” she averred.

Customers of the supermarket moved to joy and melting from acts of compassion from the Mall and supermarket as they received the roses and cupcakesbwith faces lit up, received their gifts with gratefulness saying it was a pleasure to receive roses, and also have their love for sweet things entertained after shopping. It is always good as a woman to feel appreciated, but it’s even better when the love is unexpected, one of the customers said. Other female customers from Pick n Pay added that it was going to be great spending time at home enjoying their favourite drinks with cups from the place that they loved to shop at.
