Lungile Tshabangu, also known as Osu Blackrose is a young musician from Tsakane. She is 22 years of age and studied Music Production at Boston Media House in Sandton.
Lungile describes herself as a creative and attests that she has always loved singing from a young age. She started singing in a primary school choir and later found it comforting to take singing as a career. The songstress outlines that music is not only a career to her, it’s something she has always been passionate about from a young age and that’s all she knows. “I would say my sound is more like alternative soul with an urban beat, those are the type of beats I write my lyrics to suit. It speaks to the heart because it has a lot of RnB in it. Growing up I would listen to great artists like Luther Vandross and R. Kelly while cleaning the house and that’s where the love for soul came from,” says Tshabangu.
She also mentions on how being at Boston Media House back in 2018 changed her life because that is when she met a lot of influential people and started performing. Her first ever big event that she performed at was in Maboneng, for a jazz musician, NdithiniMbali’s when she launched her album. Early in 2019, she released a song titled ‘Soap’ and that is when her presence in the music industry boomed as people warmly welcomed the track.
Although Lungile has performed at events like Doek Festival, Chilla Nathi Sessions and the Social Market, she says she still wants to push harder so she can be recognised and work with great artists like Sun-El Musician, Joda Kgosi and Simmy just to name a few. She also states that she would like to work with Bizzcuit and EeQue The Dreamer around the east rand. She also highlights on how finances are an issue especially since there is a pandemic, “The lockdown affected me badly. I am unemployed, my income comes from gigs and it’s twice as hard when you’re an upcoming artist because everything needs money. Including studio time and shooting videos. However, I am glad that my single (‘Soap’ ) is available on all digital platforms because that means I’ll be more recognised,”added Tshabangu.
Moreover, the singer points out that she is currently working on a project called Black and White and hopes that her fans appreciate it, “the project I am currently working on will definitely have at least two visuals and I cannot wait for people to hear it. This project gives me hope because it will heal and mend broken hearts, give people a hopeful tomorrow and have an element of fun,”added Tshabangu.
